Fragrances: Sauvage, Bleu de Chanel, Baccarat Rouge 540, Aventus, Eros, Black Opium, Acqua di Gio, Tobacco Vanille
Behind every fragrance is more than a list of notes. There is a brand, a history, and often a person whose vision helped create the name that eventually ended up on your fragrance shelf. Today, Fragella is making that story easier to discover.
Meet the People Behind the Brands
Fragella now displays the founders behind fragrance brands directly in the app. Whether you're exploring a house you've loved for years or discovering a completely new brand, you can now learn more about the people who helped bring that brand to life. Fragrance discovery has traditionally focused on things like: • Top, middle, and base notes • Accords • Longevity and performance • Seasons and occasions • Similar fragrances
Those things are important — and they remain a major part of Fragella. But we think fragrance discovery should go deeper. Understanding who founded a brand can give you another piece of its story: where it came from, how it developed, and the vision behind the name on the bottle.
More Than Just a Bottle
Think about some of the most recognizable names in fragrance. Dior began with Christian Dior. Chanel was founded by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. Yves Saint Laurent was founded by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé. Versace was founded by Gianni Versace. Behind today's enormous fragrance catalogs are stories that started with individual designers, entrepreneurs, perfumers, families, and creative teams. And that history isn't limited to the biggest designer houses. The fragrance world now contains thousands of niche, independent, heritage, and emerging brands. Some were created by perfumers. Others started as family businesses, fashion houses, beauty companies, or small independent projects. Fragella wants to make those stories easier to find.
Why We Added Founders to Fragella
Fragella's goal has always been to make fragrance information easier to explore. Our database already helps users discover fragrances through their notes, accords, brands, similarities, and other information. Adding founders is another step toward building a more complete picture of the fragrance world. Instead of simply seeing: Brand → Fragrance → Notes you can begin exploring: Founder → Brand → Fragrance → Notes → Discovery That extra context can lead you down completely different fragrance rabbit holes. You may discover that several brands you enjoy have similar origins. You might find an independent fragrance house you've never heard of. Or you may simply learn the story behind a bottle you've worn for years.
This Is Only the Beginning
The fragrance industry is enormous, and documenting it accurately takes time. Fragella now contains information covering tens of thousands of fragrances and thousands of brands, and we are continuing to improve the information connected to them. Founder information is another part of that effort. As Fragella grows, we want brand pages to become places where you can understand not only what a company makes, but also who created it and the story behind it. We're also continuing to expand and improve fragrance data throughout Fragella, including notes, accords, brands, discovery features, and the connections between fragrances.
